HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY (2018)

 

Objective:                     To implement and actively maintain a positive and sustained commitment to

Health and Safety in the workplace for the protection of all personnel

and visitors from injury and illness.

 

Strategies:

Management with regular staff input and review, will establish and maintain a safe working environment and enforce safe working practices.

Staff are required to comply with the safe working practices and procedures which apply to their duties.

 

Advance Mechanical Services NZ Ltd’s Health and Safety commitment is to:

 

  1. Comply with all relevant standards, regulations, legislation and codes of practice, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015.

  2. Ensure that management take all reasonably practicable steps to protect and promote the Health and Safety of all staff, contractors and members of the public who may be affected by the company’s activities.

  3. Ensure Health and Safety is the designated responsibility of senior management, that all management personnel are competent in Health and Safety, and have an understanding of Health and Safety practices appropriate to their position.

  4. Ensure that all staff employed by Advance Mechanical Services NZ Ltd understand the need to take individual responsibility to ensure that no action or inaction does harm to themselves or to any other person.

  5. Maintain and encourage staff input and representation in, and support of, Health and Safety policies and procedures.

  6. Establish and maintain a workplace free from persons possessing or working under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or any mind altering or legally controlled substances unless prescribed and used according to doctor’s instructions. A separate Drug and Alcohol Policy will also be implemented.

  7. Display appropriate safety information in work areas.

  8. Ensure staff are adequately trained and supervised, and work in a safe environment where all possible hazards have been identified and eliminated, minimised or isolated.

  9. Establish and maintain an effective safety risk management system, and emergency preparedness strategies.

  10. Ensure that workplace incidents are accurately reported and investigated, and facilitate the rehabilitation of injured staff members.

  11. Maintain appropriate ongoing reporting and recording of statistical information to accurately measure sectional and company-wide health and safety compliance.

  12. Regularly review management and staff input and commitment to safety.

  13. Review this policy annually to meet changing needs and set new objectives.

  14. Maintain continuous improvement in Health and Safety.
